Tamba Area
Tamba is located in the middle of Kyoto Prefecture. This area had been opened by Sanindo road for a long time and prospered as a castle town, famous in connection with Mitsuhide Akechi, mainly in Fukuchiyama. Mt. Ooe, where a legend of a demon still remains, is especially famous for its clear streams in the valleys and the range of deep mountains. |
Ayabe Astronomical Observatory Pao
This astronomical observatory has a large number of enjoyable "hands-on" exhibitions and romantic video images. It is equipped with a 95 cm reflecting telescope that is the largest of its kind among public observatories in Japan. There is also a solar telescope, and Hi-vision Theater with a big screen. They make it possible to enjoy starry skies even in poor weather.

Ayabe Hot Spring, Nio-no-yu
Nio-no-yu was named after the national treasure Kongorikishi statue of the gate Niomon in Komyoji Temple, built by Prince Shotoku. The hot spring has an outdoor bath with a view of the valley and village, and has medicinal hot waters combined with 22 kinds of seasonal herbal medicines such as cassia, ginger, and citrus.

Sandanike Lake Park
This quiet lake has about a 1.3 km circumference and is surrounded by rich nature. There is a zoo, a gymnasium, a child science pavilion, tennis courts, and hiking courses around the lake. This place is also famous for cherry blossoms and azaleas, and the whole city can be seen from an observatory.

Fukuchiyama Art Museum
The museum is located at a corner of Fukuchiyama Park, which is a place of recreation and relaxation from season to season. The elegant Jokaku style building with a taste of Sumiyagura matches to the castle tower of Fukuchiyama Castle. The museum mainly exhibits the paintings of an authority of the Japanese art world, Taisei Sato, from Fukuchiyama City. In Fukuchiyama Castle, there is also Fukuchiyama Home Museum that exhibits material on Fukuchiyama Castle and the history and cultural assets of Fukuchiyama region.

Mt. Ooe, Home of Shuten Doji
Mt. Ooe is a mysterious spot with the Legend of Shuten Dojiﾕs Demon and its Extermination. There are accommodations with hot springs, bungalows, a campground, a playground, and tennis courts with ﾒJapanese Demon Community Museumﾓ as the main facility. There are also many spots that relates to demon legends.

Kaibarahan Jinyashiki (Kaibara Province Government Office)
Kaibara Town is associated with the Oda family. Kaibara Jinyashiki (Kaibara Province Government Office) was established by Oda Nobuyasu. He changed his position in 1714 (Shoutoku 4). After the town burned down, it was rebuilt again and then broken up. The original front of the big house remains. There is a statue of Den Sute, a female haiku poet from Kaibara.

Tambaryu (Tanba Dinosaur) Fossil Center, "House of Chiitan"

Sasayama Jouseki (Sasayama Castle Ruins)・
Great Shoin (Great Reception Room)
Great Shoin was built at the same time when Sasayama Castle was built in 1609 (Keicho14). Though it was burned down on January 6th in 1944, it was rebuilt with eager wishes of the Sasayama residents and their monetary contribution in April 2000. Great Shoin is a very large scaled building made of wood and is comparable to the Ninomaru Big House at Nijo Castle in Kyoto.
